Hadith: The best dowry (mahr) is the easiest [to fulfill]

"The best dowry (mahr) is the easiest [to fulfill].”

As opposed to what happens in society today, where elaborate and expensive amounts of goods and currency are demanded, the dowry should be easily attainable and not cause couples to choose zinah instead due to difficulty or cause confusion by dismissing good men for marriage.
